Rituparna Sengupta turns Marathi mulgi

She not only managed to charm Rajpal Yadav but also the audience in Main Meri Patni Aur Woh . The doe eyed beauty of Bengali cinema Rituparna Sengupta has begun to create her mark in the Bollywood industry and with the line up of films she has, it won’t be long before that she is in league of the top actresses.

When we spoke to Rituparna she was in Cochin to promote her upcoming film Gauri - The Unborn . “We are touring all over India to promote the film, after Cochin we will move on to Goa and then to Kolkatta. The film has turned out pretty well and I am quite excited about it.” So what is Gauri - The Unborn all about? “The film’s subject is very different and has power packed performances in it. The film has a lot of mystery to it.” When one watches the promos of the film it comes across to be a supernatural thriller. “The film has much more than a supernatural side to it. Overall the film gives out a message which is important.”

Saab Chai Paani - well that’s the title of Rituparna’s next film based on corruption. “The film is almost complete. It is a very dark film and has been directed by Manish Gupta.” And what role do we see the talented actress playing? “I play Sonu Sood’s wife in the film who is a hardcore Maharashtrian. I didn’t have to speak much of Marathi, just a few words here and there. We also had someone on the sets to help me out“.

Well after playing a hardcore Marathi mulgi Rituparna is all set to play some love games. “My next film is titled Love Game and stars Randeep Hooda as my co-star. Love Game is an out and out comedy film. The film is about a chef who keeps having relationships and changes girls by the day. But what happens when he actually falls in love is what the films is all about.”

After a fun film Rituparna has a serious political thriller titled BBD. BBD? What does it stand for? “BBD stands for three historical characters namely Binoy, Badal and Dinesh. Only the title has been picked up from these characters, the film doesn’t have anything to do with them. BBD is directed by Anjan Dutt.”

And finally there has been a lot of talk about Rituparna’s film Anuranan which is a Bengali movie and has been doing the rounds of several film festivals “Anuranan has been a major hit and is doing very well in Bengal. I am very happy as to how the film has turned out to be.

Rituparana is not just relegated to offbeat cinema. She will be sharing screen space with Sunny Deol in a complete commercial film called Gurudakshina “For the time being, Gurudakshina has been delayed and I do not know when I will begin shooting for it.”
