Will they marry?

Their horoscopes match and a wedding could be on the cards says a Hindu priest in southern India, sparking off media reports that beauty queen Aishwarya Rai and Bollywood’s rising star Abhishek Bachchan could be tying the knot soon.

Chandrashekar Swami, a Hindu priest and astrologer in Bangalore, said he had examined the horoscopes of both stars and found they “matched perfectly,”

Traditional Hindus get their horoscopes matched by astrologers before getting married.

A former Miss World, Rai is a superstar in India. She has made more than 30 movies, served on the Cannes Film Festival jury and features in international ad campaigns for leading jewelry, cosmetic and soft drink companies.

Bachchan, the son of India’s biggest star, Amitabh Bachchan, has starred in some of last year’s hit films, including Dhoom, Bunty Aur Bubli and Sarkar. The Rai-Bachchan wedding buzz began when a television channel reported last week that Abhishek’s uncle, Ajitabh, had met Swami to seek his views about an Aishwarya-Abhishek match.

“Their horoscopes match. The wedding will take place,” Swami said on Eenadu TV, a private television channel. The two stars and their families are keeping mum and have refused to comment on the newspaper reports.

“These are personal matters. I have no comments to make,” said Hari Singh, Rai’s agent.

The duo have just completed filming Umrao Jaan, a period piece based on a courtesan’s search for love. The two are also heading off to Brazil to shoot Dhoom II, a sequel to their earlier film.
