Kareena
Kapoor, who has bagged the role of Desdemona in
the Bollywood version of "Othello", is excited about
her latest movie "Dosti - Friends Forever" releasing
this Christmas season.
Director Suneel Darshan's film is about the eternal
friendship between Bobby Deol's and Akshay Kumar's
characters and she plays Akshay's love interest.
"'Dosti' is all about the genuine friendship of
Akshay and Bobby. It has all the ingredients of
Bollywood entertainment.
"'Dosti' is the story of the strong bond of
friendship, where circumstantial consequences are
such that Akshay separates from me and Bobby tries
to reunite us. And there are many factors, which put
their eternal friendship to test. How their
friendship survives in this cruel world is the crux
of this movie," says Kareena.
She worked in the film for the sake of her friend
Darshan.
"It's all about everlasting friendship. And this
movie I've done for my friend Suneel. I know him
since Karisma used to work with him. Suneel is a
very good friend of mine. My work in this film is
entirely for Suneel, I made it a point to finish
shooting for his film within 20 days."
This is her fourth film with Akshay after "Talaash",
"Aitraaz" and "Bewafaa".
"It was fun working with Akki as we share a very
good rapport. I know him since I was nine. In fact,
I was behind the camera when he was giving his first
shot. It's really great working with such a stunning
personality; I simply enjoy working with him."
Talking about Nadeem-Shravan's musical notes, she
said, "Similar to Suneel's earlier hits, this movie
too has melodious tracks composed by the
Nadeem-Shravan duo.
When quizzed about her best friend off screen, she
didn't reveal much.
"Well, presently I'm absolutely engaged with my
professional life, so my acting is my best friend."
She doesn't have many films in her kitty right now.
"Nothing much on cards as such. I am doing '36 China
Town' with Shahid (Kapoor) under the banner of Mukta
Arts and 'Love Story 2050' with Harman Baweja. You
can say that I'm not doing many films in the coming
year."
She is thrilled about her role in Vishal Bhardwaj's
film "Othello".
"I am very lucky that Vishal thought of casting me
for the role of Desdemona. It's a dream role for any
actress, as it features a powerful female character.
The moment I read the script, I was thrilled and
without a second thought I agreed for the film."
